Season 2009
BABY BOOMER BLUES
6
JULY 2009
Laycock Street Theatre A great night of
laughs and entertainment, come and see this cheeky
comedy by Perth Theatre Co.
The biggest little play festival
in the world continues its journey on the Central
Coast with the unearthing of the 10 plays that
will feature as Finalists in the popular festival
this September at Peninsula Theatre, Woy Woy.
The plays, and their Playwrights , encapsulate
the diversity the Festival itself represents with
an exciting mix of beautifully crafted Comedy,
Drama, Absurd, Farce, Thriller and Satire - proving
the Coast doesn't have to look too far for a fix
of talent, entertainment and fabulous theatre.
The 2009 Final 10 plays are:
* Catch A Falling Knife by John Fraser
* Living With Mrs Spragg by Graham
King & Megan McGowan
* The Voyeurs by Joel Bell
* The Funeral by Bob Pereira
* The Big C by Shaun Tinkler
* Bangers by Donna Cameron (Dandylion
Theatre Co.)
* Double Take by Rose Cooper
* No Junk Mail by Frank Hatherley
* Friendship, Jumbucks and the
Hearing at Stringybark Creek by Andrew Thomson
* The Hardmen from Mudgee by Luke
Winter
Amongst the Playwrights emerge
a snapshot of the creative minds of the Coast,
including........... a film critic for Screen
International who wrote his play in a few days
after just having moved to the Central Coast,
a local Freelance Journalist who quips she has
"been well and truly infected by the Short
+ Sweet bug" with this being her third 'appearance'
as Playwright at a Festival, a married couple
who drew inspiration from a play in last year's
Festival, a graduate of the NIDA Playwright's
Studio whose work continues to be commissioned
nationally, a producer/teacher/writer/director/actor
whose CV spans the breadth and depth of the multitude
of mediums... and a Playwright who debuts his
newest full-length play at the Old Fitzroy Theatre,
Sydney in July this year! (Further information
on some of the Playwrights attached for your reference).
Short + Sweet Central Coast now
'meshes' the Plays and their Writers with almost
double the number of prospective Directors in
a gathering of a different kind. A cross between
'mini-pitching' and 'speed-dating', the session
on Wednesday July 1 is aimed at both selecting
the final 10 Directors and laying foundations
for creative partnerships.
The announcement of Directors
will be followed by the auditions for Actors.
The final 10 plays require 12 female and 16 male
actors of various ages. Actors are encouraged
to submit their CV's and obtain more information
from the Artistic Director prior to the auditions;
(Audition details)
Tuesday, 7th July: 7pm - 9pm*
Saturday, 11th July: 12noon - 3pm*
at the Don Craig Room, Laycock Street Theatre,
