Black Friday sees The Laycock Sessions take a dark turn into the swirling sounds of a gypsy encampment. With mesmerizing Roma music, the traditional music of the Romani people, folk trio Vardos promise to put audiences under an Eastern spell. 12 November. Classical/Contemporary Ensemble

Clarity

The 2010 Laycock Sessions conclude with an exciting blend of classical, contemporary and jazz, presented by a quartet of…clarinets. The name Clarity suggests both pun and mild irony as the ensemble works hard to blur the lines between music types. Formed in 1996, Clarity has performed at international jazz festivals, rock concerts and in chambers, even playing support for Slim Dusty. Their outstanding work reveals a cross section of compositional creativity and the many sonic capabilities of the clarinet family of instruments.
