SEASON 2012
Wildie Creative Enterprises Pty Ltd presents Wish I’d Said That starring
Henri Szeps
Henri Szeps stars in his latest one-man show, which
proves that ‘all the world may be a stage’
but not everyone is a star. Joe Bleakley is a ‘retired’
actor who reached for the stars but never got much
further than mediocrity. Forced into the Foggadieu
Retirement Village by his daughter Valerie, Joe decides
that he will stage a performance for the other residents
and puts together a selection of his favourite speeches
from some of the great roles he never got to play.
We are treated to excerpts from King Lear, Teahouse
of the August Moon, and nuggets of wisdom from Neil
Simon, Eugene O’Neill and Oscar Hammerstein
II. In between we learn of Joe’s troubled relationship
with his daughter, his failed marriages and disappointment
at never having quite ‘made it’. All peppered
with humorous anecdotes, jokes, songs and observations
about life, family and getting older. “Not
only does it star crowd-pleaser Henri Szeps but its
gentlehumour and wry observations guarantee laughs
for audiences of a certain age” - Northside

Arts and Entertainment Gosford presents The Next Big Deal
A sharp-witted comedy about Australian culture, RSL
clubs and one crazy idea. Fast-talking real estate salesman
Benny mortgages his mother’s home to raise the
deposit on the bright blue mansion overlooking the beach.
He has one day to find a buyer before interest rates
wipe him out. Enlisting the help of his long suffering,
younger brother, Fernando (Mum’s a Big ABBA Fan),
whose career ambitions peaked at polishing poker machines
at the local RSL, Benny has to hustle a buyer, and quickly.
Someone with money to burn and an ego the size of the
house. Someone with questionable taste. Someone who
knows nothing about the local market! Enter Michael,
acclaimed English art-film director: jet-lagged, cranky
and lured under false pretences – a man who has
bought houses all over the world, but only in the towns
where he has made a film. So Benny sets out to convince
Michael he has to make a movie ... by tomorrow, inside
the club, starring Fernando. That’s all he needs
to make it rich once and for all ... well, that, and
a live crocodile. Prices: Adult $35 Conc. $30 Purchase

Christine Harris and HIT Productions in association
with GFour Productions present Motherhood The Musical by Sue
Fabisch
The good, the bad and the laundry...from the Australian
producer of Menopause The Musical® comes an equally
hilarious, musical journey about the lives and friendships
of four very different mums. Barb, an over-worked,
underpaid, stressed-out mother of five; Brooke, the
lawyer, who works too much and barely sees her kids,
Trisha, a single mum struggling to balance work, her
family and her divorce and finally Amy, the naive
young woman about to have her first child.Motherhood
The Musical is a funny, yet loving look at being a
mum at any age. It’s climbing the emotional
mountain only to find that there’s laundry at
the top. It’s discovering how powerful your
love can be and how quickly
they grow up. It’s helping them find their way
and not losing yours. It’s about laughing and
crying, craziness and calm, smiles and tears . . .
and all before breakfast. “This is one of the most amusing musicals
I have been to in a long time. It is a wonderful production
with a colourful set, the acting and singing were
flawless. I highly recommend any
woman to go and see it. You will want to ring you
mum to say I love you by the end!” - What’s

A production by Christine Harris and HIT productions Let the Sunshine by David Williamson
Toby, a maker of hard hitting documentaries, flees Sydney
in shame when the press finds out he had inadvertently
used a bogus witness in his latest film. He convinces
his reluctant wife Ros to travel north with him to a
haven
in Queensland, fondly remembered from visits in his
youth. Problem is it has now moved from a simple fishing
village to a chic, upmarket, manicured playground of
the wealthy and privileged. Ros meets an old school
friend, Natasha, who is married to Ron, a hugely wealthy
property developer.
The connection between the two couples seems destined
to be brief and acrimonious except for one thing. Power
lawyer Emma, the daughter of Natasha, and drop out musician
Rick, son of Ros, happen to meet. And then, in typical
Williamson fashion, it’s on for young and old.“Highly
enjoyable and humorous... Williamson’s ‘Let
the Sunshine’ engages the audience and keeps it
laughing ... one of our most iconic playwrights”

A production by Christine Harris and HIT productions Diving for Pearls
by Katherine Thomson
This cleverly written play is set around the closure
of a steel mill in a coastal, industrial town, not because
the mill is inefficient or the company is running at
a loss, but because the site has become valuable real
estate.
Den, the quiet plodder, is facing an uncertain future
- hedoesn’t want to change - Barbara (his first
love) does. The problem is that her ambitions are unrealistic.
An exploration of hope, loss, ambition, greed and the
triumph of character in adversity, Diving for Pearls
is, at times confronting,
but with a very Australian humour that comes from the
difficult situations the characters find themselves
in, and the way they choose to deal with them. “… a strong sense of purpose and warmth…
enjoyable and life affirming...” - Arts Magazine.

who takes care of her, one who has been away for twenty
years. In one sleepless night a web of family history
unravels through dark humour, suspense and intrigue
in the haunting Australian outback.

A CDP production Biddies by Don Reid
After CODGERS you told us it was time to hear from the
ladies. So move over Codgers, here come the Biddies!
Five ordinarily marvellous women find themselves back
in their infants school classroom plying their needles
in a good old-fashioned session of “stitch and
bitch”. Their confessions are frank, their rivalries
intense and their jokes outrageous. They discover a
common frustration with the limitations of being female
and mature in a world still largely defined by men.
Accidentally locked in the classroom, with nothing but
ingenuity, Adora Cream Wafers and a bucket to get them
through the crisis, unknown reserves come to the fore.
Released from their own constraints, they rediscover
their capacity to love, forgive - and take control.
If you can’t beat 'em, join 'em! Men see their
wives, adult children see their mothers, grandchildren
see Nana, and the mature Australian woman sees herself,
as some of our most beloved actresses bring this delightful
new comedy to life and laughter on the stage. You’ll
laugh till you cry. Vulnerable, feisty and in full bloom,
these gals are everything... except old! Adult
